The Study On Swiss Banknote Design

After many years of design exploration,the Swiss banknote design has developed and become more and more mature,and now even an outstanding and a model of banknote design of the world.The dissertation researches on the Swiss banknote design since 1907 till now,the Swiss banknote design has experienced more than 100 years of development and nine series of changes.The article studies and analyzes the whole historical evolution and developing venation of the Swiss banknote design,and concludes and divides it into six stages,which are“unification”,“beginning and exploration”,“transition”,“turn and transformation”,“maturity”,and “innovation” respectively.From the history of Switzerland,iconography,semiotics,art history and design history of different stages of Swiss banknote design,the article analyzes and studies the theme,image,symbol and meaning,design form and performance of every period of development of Swiss banknote design,excavating and teasing the formation track,evolution process and development vein of Swiss banknote design,exploring how does the Swiss banknote design realize its own independent development and finally establish modern banknote design with its own characteristics.From the point of art design’s view,the paper dissects the image design,layout design,printing and security technology of Swiss banknote,studying and investigating the design style and development process,design concept,visual principle and design rules,design method and pattern of manifestation,methods of integration and overall arrangement of Swiss banknote design.The research on the Swiss banknote design makes readers to understand thoroughly that the national conditions of Switzerland,historical background,economical development,history and culture,science and technology,art and design of different times have influenced the design and transition of Swiss banknote in multiple dimensions.Design has brought banknote changes and more possibilities,through absorption and assimilation of modern graphic design of Switzerland,the Swiss banknote has made the banknote design to realize significant transition,presenting a brand-new appearance.Meanwhile,during the evolution process of innovation development of Swiss banknote design,designers as well make an important role of design reformation,which guarantees the stable extension and advancement of Swiss banknote design.The design concept and method,design language and pattern of manifestation of Swiss banknote are all traceable,a thorough research on the Swiss banknote design provides multiple-dimensions and aspects of reflect and enlightenment on not only the development of banknote design both at present and in the future,but also the development of Chinese graphic design.
