Music information visualization means presenting music information visually according to the principles of music acoustics,to eliminate the disadvantages of ambiguity in music education and music research,and to improve the accuracy and effectiveness during information transmission.The scientific foundation of music information visualization lies in music acoustics,it integrates basic sciences such as psychology,mathematics,and physics,and combines modern engineering techniques such as human-computer interaction,computer information technology,and sensing and control technologies to extract a variety of music information.By combining statistical and mathematical modeling methods,music information can be visually displayed and applied to areas including music composing,music performance,music education,and music research.This study comprehensively uses literature analysis,experimental study,quantitative and qualitative methods.In the first chapter,physical and psychological basis of the interrelation between auditory and visual information is introduced,which constitutes the scientific basis of music information visualization.In chapter two through chapter six,four different music visualization forms are discussed: musical score,physical vibration,sound and light interactive system,animation,and statistical graph and mathematical model.Taking mapping strategies between music parameters and visual parameters as a thread,the study explores how music visualization is developed over time.Technical issues and applications of music information visualization is also included.In these chapters,three case studies are presented.In chapter three,the threedimensional vibration modeling is carried out with the Brush-Pot-Shaped Xun as an example.In the fourth chapter,the design idea of the singing information visualization is discussed in detail,and implementation is carried out by using Pure Data and Processing.In the sixth chapter,experimental psychology methods are used to study the subjective auditory attributes of Chinese musical instruments quantitatively.The result can provide a theoretical reference for the study of acoustic characteristics and orchestration of Chinese musical instruments.In the last chapter,the auditory and visual mapping cues are summarized.By looking into the changes of artistic aesthetics and the social roles of music in different periods and the trend of current music technology,the future development of music information visualization is discussed.
