This study is an exploration into parental beliefs, values and practices parenting an ADHD child. The goal is to discover and describe parenting experiences with their ADHD child and identify cultural values and beliefs. Using parent stories in order to discover and describe parenting practices proposes a unique perspective of lived subjective experiences.;Most specifically, the study aims at describing potential cultural characteristics shared by African-American parents in their perceived life experiences. This qualitative study will describe and discover African-American worldviews on parenting practices, beliefs and experiences. Parent stories will be valuable for understanding parent help-seeking behaviors, new strategies and methods for service delivery in schools, psychiatry, pediatrics, child welfare services, and mental health.
