| The first part of this dissertation discusses the ability of arylboronic acids to extract and transport various p-nitrophenyl ;In the second part of the dissertation, boron is used as an internally-coordinated Lewis acid to enhance the binding strength of anion receptors. A series of borate-ureas and a related bis(borate-amide) were prepared from 2-aminophenylboronic acid, and their structures elucidated using X-ray crystallography and other spectrometric methods. The abilities of the receptors to associate with acetate in dimethylsulfoxide solution were determined by... |
