The continuity of natural environment deterioration and increasing ecological crisis as well as excessive consumption of natural resourceshave become urgent issues for governments all over the world to deal with, among which carbon emissions are a major cause. At present, many countries and regions have taken various measures to alleviate and solve this problem from the perspectives of green,low-carbon and circular development.China has also put forward the dual carbon targets(namely Carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals),among which enterprises are an important force to implement the new development concept and boost the dual carbon targets. However, with the innovation and breakthrough of green technology,as well as the continuous implementation of energy conservation and emission reduction policies, the potential of carbon emission reduction at the enterprise level has been constantly explored, gradually leading to decreased space.Meanwhile, the energy conservation and emission reduction at the individual level of residents has great potential.Used electronic products(UEP)recyclying occupies an important position in the low carbon emission reduction of individual resident level, the main reasons include: 1)The quantity of our country’s used electronic products is great and increases year by year;2)UEP brings about high benefits, but contains toxic substances, which will bring serious negative effects on the ecological environment and human health if not handled properly;3)UEP recycling behavior would cauese low residents’ cost and brings high economic benefits,so that it is easy to drive UEP recycling. At present,UEP recycling and processing via the third party online recycling platform are still in primary development stage, which faces many serious problems such as insufficient publicity, imperfect laws and regulations, and asymmetric information. As a result,it leads to the dilemma of “cooking without rice”in UEP recycling and processing industry. However,it is obviously not enough to promote residents to the dual carbon targets via “soft measures”(i.e.,policy publicity). There is a need to establish personal carbon accounts with the help of carbon inclusive mechanism to guide and encourage residents to recycle UEP.Carbon accounts is the important way and method to realize the “double carbon” goal, thus our research would introduce carbon accounts into the research category of residents’ UEP recycling behavior. This is of great practical significance to guide our green development practice and the related carbon emission reduction policy formulation to construct the driving mechanism framework system of residents’ UEP recycling behavior from the perspective of carbon accounts.Drawing from Multidimensional Motivation Theory and Psychological Ownership Theory, the dissertation firstly adopted qualitative analysis and innovatively proposed the concept connotation of carbon accounts through interviews,as well as established its multi-dimensional cognitive structure: carbon mental accounts, carbon financial accounts, carbon social accounts and carbon normative accounts.Secondly, based on Stimulus-Organism-Response Theory and Technology Acceptance Model combined with text mining,a theoretical model of driving mechanism of residents’ UEP recycling behavior was constructed to extract the key driving factors.Thirdly, the underlying mechanism and boundary conditions of carbon accounts on residents’ UEP recycling behavior were analyzed and verified by structural equation model and other methods through questionnaire survey. Then, the potential mechanism and boundary conditions of psychological ownership(a key driving factor of carbon mental accounts)on residents’ UEP recycling behavior were studied. Finally, through the simulation study, the evolutionary trends of individual UEP recycling intention under different sub-dimension combinations of carbon accounts, and logistics recycling intention under the intervention of different platform factors were explored.According to the above research, this dissertation put forward some strategies and suggestions to enhance residents’ UEP recycling. The specific research content and main conclusions are as follows:(1)Demographic and social statistical characteristics contributed differences in carbon accounts and residents’ UEP recycling behavior. The sub-dimensions of carbon mental/financial/social/normative accounts displayed significant differences in different genders, ages, marital status, personal income levels, family numbers, company types, native and habitual cities.Residents’ UEP recycling had significant differences in different ages, personal income levels, company types and ranks, but no significant differences in different educational levels, marital status, family numbers, family income levels, native and habitual cities.(2)Each sub-dimension of carbon accounts could influence residents’ UEP recycling behavior via experiential perceptions.Firstly, there were significant correlations between residents’ UEP recycling behavior and various driving factors, which preliminarily confirmed that carbon accounts, experiential perceptions and platform factors could effectively activate residents’ UEP recycling behavior. The mediation analysis showed: perceived engagement played partial mediation in the impacts of psychological ownership, altruistic value, ecological value and environmental identity on residents’ UEP recycling behavior;perceived benefit played partial mediation in the influence of material reward on residents’ UEP recycling behavior, while the effect of monetary reward presented an inverted U-shape;the impact of carbon social/normative accounts on residents’ UEP recycling behavior displayed via perceived intimacy/threat.In addition, platform factors partly moderated the influence of experiential perceptions on residents’ UEP recycling behavior.(3)The dissertation explored the potential mechanism and boundary conditions of psychological ownership on residents’ UEP recycling behavior. The results showed that psychological ownership affected UEP recycling behavior through perceived engagement with excluding the alternative mediating effects of responsibility perception and power perception. And then temporal perspective(cyclical time vs.linear time)could moderate the mediating effect of perceived engagement in the impact of psychological ownership on UEP recycling behavior.Specifically, when individuals held the cyclical time, compared with control group, consumers in the psychological ownership group had a significantly higher tendency to recycle UEP with the intermediary role of perceived engagement. However, when individuals held linear time, perceived engagement was low regardless of whether paticipants’ psychological ownership were activated or not, which meant UEP recycling behavior did not show significant differences under these two conditions.(4)Through the simulation analysis of residents’ UEP recycling intention from the perspective of carbon accounts,it was found that various orthogonal design combinations brought by single-dimensional carbon accounts could enhance residents’ UEP recycling intention.Among them, the internal motivation caused by carbon mental accounts occupied an important position.Besides, the promotion effect of carbon normative accounts was minimal. The motivation-combination composed of carbon mental accounts and carbon financial accounts was the optimal one in different orthogonal design combinations of double-dimensional motivations. Then, the five types of platform publicity strategies all displayed important positive intervention effects on promoting residents’ UEP logistics recycling intention. It was found that the intervention effect of high-intensity was significantly higher than one of medium-intensity in the same type of platform publicity strategy.Among their intervention effects on residents’ UEP logistics recycling intention under the same intensity, the publicity strategy focusing on platform convenience had the maximum intervention effect, while the one focusing on platform reliability displayed the was minimal intervention effect.(5)According to the empirical results, this dissertation constructed the improvement strategy system of residents’ UEP recycling behavior from a multi-dimensional perspective. To be specific,it was consist of three aspects, namely, the incentive strategy suggestion of carbon account platform, the publicity strategy suggestion of third-party recycling platform, the precise targeting guidance strategy of residents’ demographic characteristics and temporal perspective respectively. There are 57 figures,128 tables and 366 references in this dissertation.
