Pharmacology Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Based On Traditional Chinese Medicine Theories Of Lu Fu And LU Zhiyi

Lu Fu(about 1563-1626)and Lu Zhiyi(about 1598-1664)are father-son relations,both representatives of the Qiantang School of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).This study mainly explains the pharmacology of TCM with TCM theories of two books,namely Zhiyuan Yicao Tiyao and Bencao Chengya Banji written by Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi respectively.Objective 1.To explore the relevant achievements of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi in the pharmacology of TCM with TCM theories;2.To grasp the basic thinking mode of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi in the pharmacology of TCM with TCM theories;3.To explore the sources of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi’s pharmacological thought of TCM with TCM theories.Methods 1.Firstly,we collate the academic achievements and characteristics of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi in the pharmacology of TCM with TCM theories,in order to have a general understanding of their research;then,we deeply study the pharmacological contents of Zhiyuan Yicao Tiyao and Bencao Chengya Banji,and analyze the logical relationship among them.The main drugs involved were Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.,Dioscorea opposita Thunb.,and Gleditsia sinensis Lam.,totaling more than 68 kinds.2.On the basis of the above research,we have sorted out the basic thinking of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi in the pharmacological analysis of TCM with TCM theories.3.Comparing the similarities and differences between the Bencao Chengya Banji and the Compendium of Materia Medica written by Li Shizhen in terms of content and writing style;then,exploring the influence of the latter on the pharmacological research of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi.Results 1.The Book of Shennong Herbal Classic compiled by Lu Fu is the earliest edition in existence,and the publication time of Zhiyuan Yicao Tiyao was earlier than Miao Xiyong’s Shennong Bencao Jingshu as a book on the pharmacology of TCM with TCM theories;On the basis of Lu Fu’s research,Lu Zhiyi wrote the book Bencao Chengya Banji which is more advanced and rich than the former in thought and content;Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi explained the TCM pharmacology of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.and other medicines in a clear way,and always with the main therapeutic function of drugs as the center.2.Among them,each medicine is the basic unit.First of all,Lu Fu refined the basic characteristics of drugs by understanding their names,growth forms or Qiwei;then,with the help of basic characteristics,he understood the efficacy of drugs on the human body;finally,on this basis,he interpreted the words describing their indications one by one.Lu Zhiyi also embodied similar thinking mode with Lu Fu in pharmacological research.Generally speaking,their research thinking is not only inherited in the Qiantang School of TCM,but also enlightened the non-Qiantang School of TCM physicians such as Xu Lingtai and Chen Xiuyuan in their research on herbal medicine.It also has some influence on the modern research of pharmacology of TCM with TCM theories.3.Li Shizhen’s Compendium of Materia Medica has been mentioned many times in Bencao Chengya Banji.There are many similarities in the content of the text.The main difference between them is that Bencao Chengya Banji focuses on pharmacological research,while Compendium of Materia Medica focuses on sorting out the words of various herbal medicines,although it has the dominant "invention" research.Conclusion 1.Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi have made abundant achievements in the pharmacological analysis of TCM with TCM theories,and their pharmacological analysis is logically rigorous;The results not only help to understand the main therapeutic functions of TCM,but also inspire the thinking of prescriptions.2.Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi have formed a basic mode of thinking in the pharmacological analysis of TCM with TCM theories.By grasping this mode of thinking,it is helpful to understand the content of TCM pharmacology research,and has certain guiding significance in the practice of TCM pharmacology research.3.It is believed that the origin of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi’s pharmacological research thought has a certain origin with Compendium of Materia Medica,which can also be said to be an elucidation of the latter.In conclusion,the pharmacological research with TCM theories of Lu Fu and Lu Zhiyi not only reflected the change of the direction of herbal medicine research in Ming and Qing Dynasties,but also had made a diffrence.Moreover,their research has certain significance for understanding the content of herbal works,enlightening the application of prescriptions and medicines,sorting out the development track of related research in this field of the Qiantang School of TCM and even in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
