Biographical Literature Of Members From Malayan Communist Party In The Malaysian Chinese Literature

Until they laid down their arms in 1989,members from the Malayan Communist Party(MCP)have never had a chance to tell their side of the story-although these guerrilla fighters were one of the many parties who fought for the independence of Malaya.The publication of their biographies since the 1990 s offers an insight into a complicated part of our nation’s history which is slowly fading away and if not preserved,would become a missing piece of the puzzle in the birth of Malaya.There are many publications by members of the MCP,which allow readers to have a more balanced and clearer understanding on their struggle.Yet there is a lack of discussion related to this part of the literature.This thesis seeks to have a holistic analysis on the biographical literature by members of the MCP published since the 1990 s under Malaysian Chinese literature,especially its specialty,status and influences,with a hope to enhance the research on the biographical literature by members of the MCP.This thesis researches MCP biographical literature under Malaysian Chinese literature from various angles,including but not limited to discussion on the biographies of the MCP members who held different positions and rankings in the party.These include leaders,ordinary and female members.Further,this thesis also discusses whether MCP members’ biographies are factual records,while another section analyses from the angle of language.This thesis also compares MCP members’ biographies with other types of original works related to the MCP.Finally,this thesis explores the importance of MCP members’ biographies,regardless of the targeted audience,and/or whether lost and/or distorting or tampering of the facts,it still serves as a supplement or even adaptation of the history of Malaysia,this is something in affirmative.This thesis also studies the influences of MCP members’ biographies to Malaysia as a whole,including but not limited to each and everyone regardless of race.The final part discusses briefly on the expectation of follow-up researches and analyses the gains and losses in the writing of this thesis,as well as prospects for future researches on related topics.MCP biographical literature gives us a better understanding of the contribution of the MCP during the war.Their writers are on a decline however and it is therefore imperative to research this part of the history.MCP biographical literature has a unique literary nature and its profound mission in preserving a part of our history should no longer be ignored.
