From Frontier To Administrative Region

Fanjie is an important dimension for understanding the historical development of Taiwan.As the institutional design of the border governance of the Qing Dynasty,the Fanjie policy is the result of drawing on the traditional concept of border governance in the Mainland,reflecting the overall pattern of border governance in the Qing Dynasty,and determining the research paradigm of Taiwan Fanjie from the frontier to the frontier.The opening or banning in Taiwan has its own evolutionary path,interacting with the geographical environment,the balance of ethnic power,and the adjustment of official policies,thereby shaping the unique and dynamic historical appearance of Taiwan’s regional society.From Dayuan to the Taiwanese government,Fanjie has moved from "outside the world" to the territory,which is in line with the progressive ideal of China’s frontier society to be included in the national order.It is very different from the Western "colonial" historical construction,and the myth that the Fanjie could be colonized is wrong.
