The development of children’s films in China is limited by the obvious characteristics of theme-oriented and adultification.Starting from the theme of children’s films generated by the cultural tradition and times background,this paper sorts out the development of the theme of the children’s film,analyzes the characteristics of the narrative theme in children’s film,and its image style has the dual characteristics of confusion and clearness,therefore,this paper makes a cultural reflection on the theme of children’s films.Children’s films should be based on the development of the times,balance the function of education and entertainment,show children’s real psychology deeply,and then through it,gain insight into children’s world and enter children’s mind deeply.This article grasps the thematic orientation of the development and creation of Chinese children’s films,clarifies the thematic value orientation of children’s films,so as to provide useful references for the research and creation of Chinese children’s films.Chinese children’s films have the problem of theme supremacy,which stems from the cultural tradition of “writings are for conveying truth”,the social reasons of national rejuvenation and so on.Any work is produced in a specific context of social and cultural development,influenced by political,economic,cultural,historical and other factors,and faced with a variety of social problems,especially children’s problems,children’s films consciously or unconsciously undertake the functions of cultural enlightenment and social transformation.The theme supremacy and instrumental reason in the theme creation of children’s films have the characteristics of historical stages.It is helpful to summarize the reasons and rules of the development of
