| The Japanese translation of leaders’ works is an important part of the Japanese translation of important documents of the Party and the country, which is of great significance to the construction of China’s discourse system towards Japan.Since the establishment of the Mao Zedong Works Translation Office in 1961,the Japanese translation of leaders’ works has gone through more than 60 years.Functionalist skopos theory holds that any translation act serves a specific translation purpose.Putting the behavior of translating leaders’ works into the long history,we can see that the development of the times and social and cultural changes have promoted the evolution of the purpose of translating leaders’ works into Japanese. The study of the evolution of the purpose of the Japanese translation of leaders’ works is of reference significance for guiding the Japanese translation of leaders’ works in the new era. This paper combines functionalist skopos theory with descriptive translatology, taking Selected Works of Mao Tsetung,Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping,Xi Jinping The Governance of China the research object, taking Japanese translation with Chinese characteristics as an example, this paper investigates the evolution of the purpose of Japanese translation of leaders’ works. On the basis of summarizing the current research situation and translation theory, this paper proposes a new perspective on the purpose of Japanese translation of leaders’ works.By sorting out the research status quo,it is found that the research on Japanese translation of political documents from the perspective of functionalist skopos mainly adopts questionnaire as the research method, and has achieved fruitful research results. On the basis of previous achievements, this paper explores a new approach to the study of Japanese translation purposes of leaders’ works according to functionalist skopos theory and descriptive translation theory. As an important part of the cultural turn of translation studies, functionalist skopos theory and descriptive translatology are both oriented towards the target language.Descriptive translation studies fill the gap of functionalist skopos theory in explaining the restriction of macro social and cultural factors on translation purposes, and functionalist skopos theory makes up for the limitation of descriptive translation studies in the lack of value judgment on translated texts.Translation purpose is an important intermediate level in translation behavior, which is restricted by social culture and determines the choice of translation methods.Based on the research path of "description, interpretation, prediction",this paper takes the Japanese translation of three leaders’ works with Chinese characteristics as an example to investigate the evolution of the purpose of Japanese translation of leaders’ works. In "Description: A diachronic study of micro factors in the purpose of Japanese translation of leaders’ works",guided by functionalist skopos theory, this paper describes and summarizes the evolution of Japanese translation purposes according to the Chinese characteristics of the three leading works. This paper takes the expressions with Chinese characteristics that are closely related to social culture and easy to reflect the purpose of text translation as a comparative study unit.According to the classification of translation methods of Fujita Wenzi, this paper judges and counts 2350 Japanese translation methods of expressions with Chinese characteristics in three leaders’ works.According to Fujita Wenzi’s translation evaluation method, from the four levels of "form content effect function",this paper analyzes the realization ratio of faithfulness and coherence in Japanese translation of three leaders’ works on the expression of Chinese characteristics.According to Vermeer’s three principles of skopos theory, this paper describes and summarizes the purposes of the Japanese translations of the three leaders’ works. After investigation,it is found that from Japanese translation of Mao Tsetung,Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping,to Xi Jinping The Governance of China, the ratio of transplant translation method is significantly reduced, the ratio of interpretation translation method is significantly improved, the functional coherence of translation is significantly enhanced, and the Japanese translation purpose is evolving from "taking me as the main" to "integrating China and Japan".In "Interpretation: A diachronic study of macro factors of the purpose of the Japanese translation of leaders’ works",this paper will combine Lefevere’s rewriting theory and functionalist skopos theory in descriptive translation studies to examine the restrictive effects of ideology, patronage and translator factors on the evolution of the purpose of the three leaders’ works. Both rewriting theory and teleology focus on the exploration of external factors of text.Rewriting theory can break through the limitation of skopos theory in the interpretation of macro constraints of translation purposes, and skopos theory can make up for the inadequacy of rewriting theory in paying insufficient attention to the translator’s subjectivity. After investigation,it is found that the evolution of ideology, patronage and translator factors has promoted the development of the Japanese translation purpose of Selected Works of Mao Tsetung,Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping,Xi Jinping The Governance of China from "taking me as the main" to "integrating China and Japan".Since socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era,the improvement of the influence of mainstream ideology requires the construction of a discourse system that integrates China and Japan. The sponsor emancipated his mind and kept pace with the times in formulating the expected audience, and paid more attention to the understanding of ordinary Japanese readers.Translators use more interpretive translation methods in Japanese translation of expressions with Chinese characteristics, such as "correct concept of justice and benefit","nail spirit",etc.,pay more attention to the functional coherence of the translation, and pay more attention to feature integration than ever before in history. In "Forecasting: A Study of Japanese Translation of Expressions with Chinese Characteristics under the Purpose of Integrating Chinese and Japanese Translation in the New Era",this paper, guided by functionalist skopos theory, taking Japanese translation of expressions with Chinese characteristics in Xi Jinping The Governance of China as an example to analyze and predict the Japanese translation of leaders’ writings with Chinese characteristics under the purpose of integrating Chinese and Japanese translation in the new era. After investigation,it is found that the Japanese translation of the Chinese characteristics expression in the new era leaders’ works, which takes the purpose principle of integrating China and Japan as the highest principle, and sets up a new audience view for the Japanese general audience, has a solid theoretical support,is the necessity of historical inheritance, and is the requirement of the development of the times.Under the guidance of the principle of integrating Chinese and Japanese purposes, the Japanese translation of leaders’ works with Chinese characteristics should realize the principles of coherence and faithfulness. The "characteristics" of the expression of Chinese characteristics are mainly reflected in language characteristics, cultural characteristics and discourse characteristics. The Japanese translation strategy of expressing Chinese characteristics should be judged according to the corresponding situation of Chinese and Japanese characteristics. When the Chinese and Japanese characteristics correspond, the characteristic retention strategy should be adopted; When the Chinese and Japanese characteristics do not correspond,we should adopt the strategy of characteristic reconstruction; When the characteristics of China and Japan are partially corresponding, the characteristic accommodation strategy should be adopted. This paper makes a systematic study of the evolution of the purpose of the Japanese translation of leaders’ works, and puts forward a new perspective on the study of the purpose of the Japanese translation of leaders’ works. |
