| This study centers on two compositions by contemporary French composer Philippe Manoury: "Passacaille pour Tokyo," for piano and seventeen instruments,and the double piano concerto "Zones de turbulences." It delves into the core elements and their transformations,the sound layout,and structural forms,focusing on Manoury’s own compositional techniques such as Generative Musical Grammars,the overlay principle of continuous cycle structures,the concept of "multiple echoes," and the "Proust effect" within these works.This analysis aims to reflect on the expressiveness,innovation,and artistic value of contemporary compositions through Manoury’s work.The article is divided into three main sections: introduction,main body,and conclusion,aiming to delve into the creative concepts of Philip Glass and their manifestation in his two works,"Passacaille pour Tokyo" and "Zones de turbulences".The introduction presents the significance of the research topic and its related research status.The main body consists of three chapters: the first chapter outlines the background of Philip Glass and the two works;the second and third chapters provide a detailed analysis of the two works,focusing on the generation of thematic elements,the application of the principle of continuous loop structure superposition,sound layout,and structural characteristics.In Chapter Two,the author also analyzes the extension of Pasacaglia and the development logic of core tones in "Passacaille pour Tokyo",demonstrating how Glass integrates this traditional genre into the context of modern music and showcases the uniqueness and innovation of his works.The conclusion summarizes the creative features highlighted in Philip Glass’ s two works,"Passacaille pour Tokyo" and "Zones de turbulences". |
