Phosphorite is a general term for all phosphate rock which are economically valuable and very important mineral raw materials in agricultural and industrial areas. It plays an important role in the world economy. Currently, the phosphorite market is basically stable, the productivity and supplement are slightly overwhelmed the sale and requirement. However, the requirements of fertilizers and phosphorite are going to increase as food requirement keeps increasing, both demands and supplies in the phosphorite market will keep growing.China is one of the world's largest miners of phosphate rock. The proven reserve is at third position after the United States and Morocco. Nevertheless, in our country, the phosphorite distribution is too concentrated and the qualities of the ores are relatively low. The medium to low grade ores are more than the high grade ores and refractory ores are more than tractable ores. Thus, under the whole international environment, the researches for complete handling of the phosphorite ore situation, analyzing the advantages/disadvantages and scientifically exploitation make significantly sense for Chinese phosphorite exploitation and potential improvement.There are mainly 3 kinds of phosphorite in China, exogenous - sedimentary phosphate rock deposits, endogenous - apatite deposits and metamorphic - phosphorites deposits. Different types of phosphorite have their own law of mineralization. The mineralization period of exogenous - sedimentary phosphate rock deposits were at Sinian–Cambrian. The formation of endogenous - apatite deposits were closely related to mantle-derived magmatic activity. The typical examples of metamorphic - phosphorites deposits showed mostly as Fengning-type deposit, Jixi-type deposit, Haizhou-type deposit, etc.Different ore types require different treatment processes. On this basis, phosphate rock mining methods can be divided into scrub off the mud process, re-selection, flotation, combined process re-maglev, roasting-digestion and electrostatic separation. In this article, we studied on the Xinhua phosphorite from Zhijin, Guizhou. Phosphate rock deposit types, distribution, mining methods, reserves were analysed and evaluated. The phosphorite was produced from Meishucun stage of Lowermost Cambrian and phosphoric rock at the bottom part of Qiongzhusi stage, which locate at the bottom of the Lower Cambrian, the upper Sinian silicified dolomite Gukasite erosion surface. It is used to be called as upper phosphorite in Guizhou and it can be divided into 4 mineralization sections: Gaoshan mine section, Gezhongwu mine section, Guohua mine section and Jiakua-Daxia mine section. The proved total reserve of phosphate rock ore is 1348.295 megaton.In the phosphorite exploiting process, there are still some problems which are against the idea of sustainable development. For example, serious problems like: pollution which caused by waste water and gas, over abandonment of low-grade ores, unadvanced mining methods, distributed Mining, poor management and so on. Under further research and practice, through improving the technical level, updating ore mining methods and strengthen environmental regulations, all these problems are going to be ameliorated one by one.
