Research And Application On The Census Technology Based On Geocoding

For each country, census is fairly important to the growth of the economy and the development of the society. However the geographic supporting technologies on census of our country remain unenlightened for a long time. So it becomes very important but a hard nut to crack that how to improve the efficiency of census by using high-techs and social resources in such a rapidly developing epoch.Geocoding, which can convert text based addresses into a series of spatial points, is a basic technology in GIS. More and more industries are willing to use Geocoding with the popularization of GIS, so does the census. Based on the analysis of the relevant research out-comings, this paper makes a discussion that how to apply the geocoding methods to the census. The author pointed out the technical solutions to combine the geocoding with census after analyzing the domestic and overseas census methods and considering the work flow of census: First, matching the buildings which contain address information and census addresses, so that the population of each building becomes clear; Second, extracting the census area by using CD-TIN generated from the shapes of buildings; According to these solutions, the author developed software and made an experiment to reveal the feasibility of the solutions.
