With the development of Manganese deposit exploration, traditional methods to target the manganese deposit is getting limted. The new mineral resource prediction method discussed in this study based on GIS which combine the multiple geological spatial data, geophysical, geochemical information and remote sensing, is a useful method to integrate metallogenic information, and to predict the visualization results. This topic is supported by the National 11th Five-Year scientific and technological Plan_"Large-scale manganese mine prospecting techniques and evaluation of research in West Guangxi-Southeast Yunnan" (No: 2006BAB01A12) which is hosted by my advisor. The methods are on the basis of the function of GIS in mineral resources prediction, through studying the ore-forming control factors and regularity, integrated the geological, geophysical, geochemical information, and the interpretation of remote sensings into a database, then used the relative information to target the new manganese prospect. First of all, the multi-spatial database of geological "vertical stratification, horizontal block" is established to store the information of manganese deposits. Secondly, the GIS spatial analysis technology and regression analysis are used to quantitative analysis and extract the most important ore-forming components (index collection) in the manganese ore database. And then, a model (Resources prediction model and Metallogenicl favourability degree model) is constructed to predict the new prospect (1/20 million). Finally, on the basis of study on the ore-control factors of specific known manganese deposit, GIS spatial analysis method can be used to present the detailed exploration target (1/5 million) in the above mentioned prospect.
