The failure of huge and high-speed landslide brings big disasters to mankind and cause enormous loss, its rock and soil masses enter into reservoir at a high speed in very short time, and also can evoke great surge which can threaten people's properties and lives on the landslide and in reservoir area. At the same time, the slide blocks block the river which causes the barrier lake. With the gradual uplift of water level, difference in hydraulic head of barrier dam is increasing, it is likely to be caused that the dam will damage due to seepage or instability of the dam slope. Therefore, the study of formation and propagation of landslide surge and factors of dam-break disasters can provide a scientific basis for their prediction and prevention.This paper use the finite volume method, via the computational fluid software FLUENT , establish two-dimensional mathematical model, and simulated the surge and its propagation process during the slide into the water along the slope, by contrasting the numerical results with the previous entity model test results, the comparison results are very satisfactory. This text takes the Xintan Landslide as an example for analysis of greatest surge,the maximum climbing on the other side, the shapes of free surface, and the distribution of dynamic pressure when landslide enter into water at a certain initial velocity, the simulation results are consistent with the observed date. This paper selects three important factors: time and angle of entering the water, angle of climbing, and simulated the Xintan Landslide of three different conditions. The results show that the numerical model can provide the analysis of surge disasters generated by super large volume slide along the steep slopes with the high-speed into the water with a certain reference value.This text then simulates and analyzes the factors of another chain effect of disaster dam-break by landslide. Firstly, through the comparison with the dam-break model's results, this text verify the reliability of the model, the comparison are basically consistent, in succession, this text analyzes the different models of dam-break wave, we can see the whole dam caused the most damaging. The process of dam-break flood is very complex, further more, this text simulate the dam-break waves of different channels, including water depth ratio, slope ratio, degree of bending. Finally, a numerical model of the gradual break analyzes the changes of the shape of free surface and velocity vector. The analysis of the flood flow and free surface elevation line of dam break through different time provide a practical reference value for estimating the dam break of Tangjiashan Barrier Lake.
