Partial effect caused by successive mass was always neglected during analyzing structural dynamic response. Whereas, partial effect is generally apparent when the density of the material used is great, the external damping coefficient is large and solid-liquid coupling vibration exists within structural system, this has been proved by theory and practice. In these conditions, error will be obvious during analyzing structural dynamic response if the partial effect is neglected. Based on the previous documents concerned, the new computational model of partial effect for plate element under arbitrary excitation is established by the force balance principle inside element, considering the small structure and the simple types of element and external excitation in partial effect application. Therefore, the partial effect of plate-shell element can be obtained easily, especially for triangle element. On the other hand, some existing subroutines of the program to compute the partial effect of plate-shell and beam element are modified, and some other subroutines are added in order to apply this program to more complicated structural system. Finally, the dynamic response of a frame, a cantilever and a cistern under external excitation is analyzed separately using the modified program, and the partial effect of the structures is considered also. Comparison of results shows that the computational precision is improved greatly by considering partial effect.
