Carboniferous in Manxi region of Tarim basin is divided into six sequences under the guidance of Sequence Stratigraphy and in the combination of well logging data and log data, and the characteristics of every sequence and system tract are described. By use of new theory, views and methods of modern Sedimentology and through the analasis of core, well logging and log data of approximately twenty well in Manxi area, six kinds of sedimentary facies such as wave-dominated littoral, tide-dominated littoral, mixing littoral, shallow marine r shelf, carbonate platform facies and others are recognized and elaborated . With sequence as drawing unit, the distribution and evolution of sedimentary facies are described and explicated in six sequences about carboniferous in the region. According to the results of testing and analysis, the characteristics of reservoir and cap beds are analyzed in carboniferous in the area and it is pointed out that Donghe Sandstone, Bioclastic Limestone, Sandstone-mudstone and Limestone Members are better reservoir in the region, and Lower Mudstone, Middle Mudstone and Upper Mudstone Members are better and regional cap beds. On the point favorable reservoir zones are predicted. It is suggested that Donghe Sandstone and Bioclastic Limestone Members should be main targets of oil-gas exploration in the region.
