With the entry into the 21st century, the rapid development of Internet technique has changed the mode of human's life and thinking. The acquirement and communication of information has also changed tremendously. Therefore, the traditional GIS mode is facing great challenges, and the formation of correlation techniques of GIS, such as database, Internet, image process, is changing the traditional developing mode of GIS, which provides the hardware environment and technique support necessarily for the information distribution and source sharing of information age. Space and time can't be the obstacle of the acquirement and communication of information any longer. The efficient GIS source can be acquired through the Internet, which makes it possible to share the source at the social extent.Nowadays, the increment of population and industrialization has lead to the environment aggravation and resources shortage. Therefore, the information project about resource and environment has acquired more and more attentions. The forest is recycled material, as well as the important mainstay protecting and improving living environment. It is an important developing direction and has significant realistic meaning to develop forest information project and realize the opening, shareable through the modern technique such as Internet, database and GIS.With the support of Internet, this article has discussed especially the design and realization of the forestry GIS database application system based on Internet technique by the means of GIS, database and ASP, combining the practical demand of the information development of modern forest. During the design, application system structure adopts the network architecture mainly through the B/S mode, with the auxiliary C/S mode. Considering the superiority of the completely relational database management of spatial data and attribute data, we adopted the spatial data engine to combine the map special data of the forest resource information with the relationship database system, and realized the management and service of data after designing the attribute data form and special data form in detail. Furthermore, the two system, B/S and C/S, had been integrated throughSQL Server database. On the basis of theoretical studies and discussion, combining the construction of the forest resource investigation management information system of Ningxia forest information platform, we selected Suyukou manage station of Ningxia Helan Mountain Nature Protect Bureau as an example and realized the automatic and remote user authority management of forest resource second class investigation data. The result shows: first, the network architecture combining the B/S mode with C/S mode is the key of the application system development. By this mode, we can take advantage of not only the stability of C/S system to manage and maintain the application system, but also the B/S system to solve the problem of containing different platforms; second, the integration and data share can be protected by the incorporation of forestry GIS special data and attribute data; third, there are some advantages to devise network GIS application system through ASP: high efficiency, better interactionN more easy and safe accessible databases > multiplatfornioThrough studying and practicing, it was found that the application of WebGIS is mainly concentrated on the distribution of map information data on the line, and the two ways query of simple special and attribute data. Presently, however, the analytical function of GIS can't be accomplished within the confines of normal human computer interaction. With the continuous development of Web, GIS and database technique in the later time, ft will impel the new field's progress of WebGIS.
