Deformation monitoring is an important method to ensure deformation' s security, which forecasts deformation' s security by obtaining dynamical information of deformation in time. Its character includes timing, preceding, reliability. Deformation monitoring plays an important role in measuring works and science research of engineering deformation. Whether building or working of engineering deformation, it can ensure safe by finding dangerous in engineering deformation. This paper analyzes the researches of deformation monitoring in the past ten years, then puts forward several problems that will be studied, which include three parts: first, How to define the reasonable stability weight of measuring points, second, The net of free network adjustment often be changed in multi-observation. When the net of free network adjustment have been changed, how to compute displacement of deformation on the basis of keeping the same of datum, the last one, when deformation model is known, local sensitivity of deformation network can be computed. But it is difficult to find deformation model. In this paper, the method of mean gap is used to solve this problem.Above of, this paper discusses several aspects of deformation monitoring including deformation network building, adjustment and computing, stability test of measuring points, minimum data of finding possibility of displacement. Second, in the deformation network building and free network adjustment, it discusses datum consistency, and drives of the adjustment formula under consistency datum, compares the different of computing displacement in free network adjustment datum, parameter adjustment datum and free network adjustment datum behind similar transformation; third, in stability test of measuring points, the computing displacements under three different datum is used to the method of mean gap, the results are analyzed. It discussesthe different of using the method of mean gap between horizontal deformation monitoring networks and vertical deformation monitoring networks , and also discuses the problem how to finding deformation model by the method of mean gap.In order to testify the correct of these methods, this paper designs two experiments .one is horizontal displacement deformation monitoring network, the other is vertical displacement deformation monitoring network . in these two experiments , it includes test scheme .outer precision estimation , inner precision estimation. The data collecting is in accordance with II order leveling measuring and II order distance network. These two experiments test the reasonable of datum consistency and the method of mean gap building deformation model.
