Deformation monitoring plays an important role not only in research of Geophysics, Geology, Seismology and Geodynamics but also in security analysis of buildings, dams and nuclear reactors. Presently, though Deformation monitoring methods are diversifying day by day, but geodetic observation method is one of the most effective among them. In order to obtain higher quality monitoring results, it is necessary to optimize the network.In fact, majority of functional relations in an optimal designing model of deformation monitoring system are nonlinear. Taking the above case into account, the following three topics are mainly discussed in this paper. Firstly, a nonlinear optimal designing model of deformation monitoring network is established by taking into account the quality criteria of precision, reliability, sensitivity and expanses. Secondly, concrete forms of the nonlinear first and second order optimal designing model of trilaterition and triangulation network are educed. Finally applying the model to the practice, feasibility of the model is validated.
