The response of offshore structure under the environmental load is very complex. The physics model test plays an important role in design. With the analysis of the results of model test, the theory analysis and numerical simulation develop. At first in the article the offshore model basins in the world are described and analyzed briefly. The model test for offshore structure need not only the model test facilities, but also the measuring techniques and model test methods. The scale laws of offshore model test including Froude's law, Reynold's law, vortex shedding, surface tension effects and compressibility are analyzed in detail. The environmental loads acted on Floating Production Storage and Off-loading Vessel include wind, current and wave. The methods and techniques of simulating wave (including regular long crested waves, random long crested waves, random short crested waves, bi-modal and bi-directional wave spectra), current and wind in offshore basins are discussed and provided. The moored Floating Production Storage and Off-loading Vessel is a complex dynamic system. With the mooring system and risers the model test of Floating Production Storage and Off-loading Vessel in water basins is more difficult. The typical model tests of Floating Production Storage and Off-loading Vessel are discussed and the aims and the measuring methods are provided.
