Gravity is one of the oldest geophysical methods in the investigation of the crustal structure. The information of the gravity is very important for the research of tectonic and lithosphere. In particular, the inversion of this information cannot be replaced for deep crust. However , decomposition of the potential field with multiple source (different depth , scale and poperties of matter) is very difficult in exploration geophysics. The wavelet transform is a new branch of mathematics. It is a method of time-scale(time-frequency),which have characteristics of mult-resolution and showing local character of signals in time domain and frequency domain. So Wavelet and can be a powerful tool for multiple decomposition of potential fields data.By filtering the Bouger gravity anomalies of Tarim basin and Tianshan orogennic belt, We got decomposed anomalies at different scales. Applying the traditional spectrum analysis techniques, one can estimate the everage depth of sources for every wavelet detail and approximation. The result of wavelet transform by us is in accordance with information of geoid separation. Combined with other regionalgeological and geophysical information, we studied N-W, N-E and N-S structure of Tarim basin and Tianshan orogennic belt , and get some new idea. It can provide important information for oil-gas resource exploration.
