Application And Implement Of Component Technology In The System Of Cartography

With the development of software technology, the method of implementing GIS has made great progress. From isolated GIS module to integrated GIS, to modular GIS, and then to kernel GIS, now component GIS has also been implemented. In such process, the function of GIS has become more separated and perfect than ever. And component GIS, based on standard component platform, expands the function of traditional GIS. It, owning visual and convenient interface, can freely recombine with different components.At present, most software corporations concentrating on GIS have regarded developing component software as an important goal. ESRI and Maplnfo have respectively put forward ArcObjects, MapObjects and MapX. Meanwhile, in our country, MapGIS and SuperMap have made their product based on component technology. Component GIS is becoming the main trend of GIS in the recent years.This paper firstly researched and analyzed the component technology. And then using the architecture and implement method of several famous GIS for reference, construct two components for cartography system: one for create and use map symbol and another for map's decorating element. These two components can satisfy not only the requirement of cartography system but also that of other individual users.
