During these years, GIS (Geographical Information Science) has become a research domain of multi-subject and multi-direction concerning. Data is the blood of GIS, thereof vector data especially is an important representation of spatial data, whose quality directly affects the accuracy and reliability of the applied system' s analysis and decision-making based on the vector data as well as the success of the system. Therefore, the vector data quality control of in GIS is becoming a very important problem.This article firstly introduces the developmental history and the latest research fruit of the spatial data' s uncertainty theory research. Studies the sources, data models and disposing methods of the spatial data' s uncertainty based on those. Secondly, expounds the theory and the method on how to control the quality of spatial data in detail. Lastly, the paper works out the way on how to control the quality of the vector data in urban basic GIS by programme. The main contents are expatiated as follows:(1) Analyzing various GIS criterions and standards in detail, researching contrastively the existing method of the import data in current GIS software, designing a preferable method for surveying department which can solve the problem of merge layer and multi-import data.(2) Bringing forward mapping of spatial data, which is based on studying of symbol criterion in existing surveying department.(3) Studying the quality problem of topological spatial relationship, working out the quality check on the vector data about repeated entity, intersect line, swing line, topological region, the length of line and so on. Designing the function to check vector attribute data' s quality, which entitles the users to amend the attribute data based on the checking result.In the end this thesis puts forward some ideas to improve the softprogram which is quality check and quality control of vector data.
