In this paper, the characters of plasma photonic crystals are theoretically analyzed and numerically simulated, based on the theoretical knowledge of photonic crystals and plasmas.A model of one-dimensional plasma photonic crystals is built. The general dispersion relation of electromagnetic waves in one-dimensional plasma photonic crystals is deduced and analyzed, and the dispersion curves with diverse parameters are shown in this paper. Base on the dispersion relation, band gap structrue of one-dimensional plasma photonic crystals, abnormal refraction of electromagnetic waves and cut-off frequency of electromagnetic waves are discussed. The situation and width of band gaps with diverse angle of incidence are analyzed, and peculiar phenomenon is numerically simulated that band gaps disappear at the Brewster'angle. The reflectivity of electromagnetic waves propagating in one-dimensional plasma photonic crystals is calculated numerically, and explained by the theory about band gaps.Another model of two-dimensional plasma photonic crystals is built. The structure and theory of ideal two-dimensional plasma photonic crystals are introduced. And back scattering of single cylinder is discussed tentatively, and resonance, due to the existence of plasmon, is studied.The potential application of plasma photonic crystals was forecast, based on the above characters.
