Based on expatiating the work principle and configuration of single-collector and multi-collector of MAT261 thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS), this paper aims at that the determination by single-collector has disadvantages of obviously long test periods, poor stability of determination result, less high veracity and precision, which is far from the analysis demand of scientific research. In order to improve the utilization ratio of this instrument, upgrade the determination efficiency and precision, shorten the test periods, and associating with the actual operation of isotope laboratory in this university, the work of this paper successfully changed the Sr isotope single-collector into multi-collector, realized multi-collector determination of Sr isotope. This paper introduces the methods of correct locating and adjusting of multi-Faraday-collectors, presents the distinguishing foundation of correctly locating, and modifies the program of multi-collector.The altered instrument successfully passed the actual sample testing, and the result shows that: relatively to single-collector determination, multi-collector determination has higher veracity, precision and stability, and the determination results are more credible. At the same time the technical factors of obtaining excellent determination result are analyzed in detail, then the law and general criterions were put forward.
