Virtual Plant is newly risen study field with rapid development of software and hardware of computer and advancement information technology. It is based on computer and can simulate the course of development and upgrowth of plants in three-dimension by Virtual Reality, and possess of three-dimensional and visual effect. By Virtual Plant technology, we can acquire precise shape structure,growth states and affect to environment of real plants, which is significant for doping out the output of crops, estimating the productivity of soil, analyzing resource and environment, coaching crops planting, researching on the growth theory of crops, controling crops growth and extending agricultural science and technology.On the field of Virtual Plant, it is basal and important to measure and get the datas of geometrical shape of leafs. Only getting precise geometrical shape datas, compute just can simulate real plants much more really and Virtual Plant technology is much more applied. The traditional method of measuring geometrical shape datas of plants is artificial, which measure the length of leafs with ruler and the ramus azimuth angle of plants with protractor. But the results by this way are inaccurate and not perfect because of the effect of artificial and natural factors, so the method has been washed out. Now we always use three-dimensional digital apparatus to do this, though the results by this way is accurate and perfect, it is difficult to extend its usage because of the high price and the complex operation.This paper starts with the leafs of plants and search for an method which can measure geometrical shape datas of leafs perfectly and untouchedly. Firstly, we get the high clearly digital image of leafs by the equipment such as CCD vidicon and digital camera and put it into computer. Secondly, the image of geometrical shape character of leafs can be extracted from the whole image by a series of Image processing technologies and transformat it into DXF format which is vectorgraph. Finally, we can getting the original datas of geometrical shape of leafs via reading the vectorgraph file by some software such as AutoCAD.
