Along with the social progress and the rapid advances of scientific and technological changing with each new day, the development of information technology has poured into the fresh blood to various walks of life. As an important component of information systems, GIS technology has been applied in various industries for a long time. As the emergence of new requirements in GIS brought by many industries, it has also brought up new demands for the applications of GIS, for example : the storage and display of enormous data, the flexibility of the system, whether the systems is open to others or not, Internet solutions and so on.This paper analyzed the present status of GIS platforms at first, comparing with the advantages and shortcomings of several well-known softwares each other. On the basis of state above, we bring up the thinking of constructing topologic models based on the unit data. Then we analyzed the advantages of this design concept and made the research of rapid visualization. Finally the advantage was confirmed by examples of GIS applications in this manner. In the realization process of the unlimited region data display, it involves a series of very important technology such as restructuring, data query, multi-scale visualization, LOD technology and so on. All these had been explored and researched. Its main contents includes that as below:1,To begin with the present application situation of the enormous GIS data, it analyzed the shortcomings by comparing the number of well-known application softwares, then showed the meaning of making the research and background of the study.2, To interpret and analyze the system design in detail, including the data structure and indexing mechanism design, geographic information research and achieve rapid visualization methods.3,The key technology for the system to explore and research.4,To confirm the advantages of GIS applications based on this system's design.
