The 3-D space model formation methods researched in different applied fields have directly influenced the real expression and effective visual realization of GIS middle and 3-dimentional space information. 3-D technelogy,which is the important meansure to realize digital mining strategy, provides a beneficial visual approach to 3-D geographic simulation, and also offers the scientific accordance to the mine comprehensive management and the assistance decision of mining work.The terrane of the mine is a real 3-D dynamic geographic environment, and 3-D GIS is supposed to adopt the model formation measure based on the real 3-D space model to realize its visualization. This paper analyzed the various space model formation measures based on the facet model and volume model,compared the applied extension of various space model, and summarized that mixed space model is an effective measure to offset the single space model formation. Meanwhile, this paper, according to the 3-D visual characteristics of the mine's terrane, has proposed a mixed space model measure combined the advantages of TIN facet model and Voxel volume model. Through the further discussion of the mixed TIN-Voxel model formed by the three single model arithmetic—TIN, Grid and Voxel model, this paper analyzed the formation and characteristics of TIN-Voxel mixed model, and laid more emphasis on the research of integrated measure of TIN and Voxel. This paper also analyzed the theory and the measures how the mixed model to realize the digital mine's terrane, the constringent measure of TIN-Voxel model, and some space operational arithmetic such as space cutaway, space inquiry and space quantity arithmetic.Different with the 3-D GIS space visual research adopting the single facet model and volume model, this paper, according to the 3-D space environment characterized with the mine's terrane, proposed the 3-D visual method of the mine's terrane based on the TIN-Voxel mixed model which at the same time, has the advantage of space formation and digital dispose on both facet model and volume model. This model shows its merits on simple model structure, less redundant data and convenient space location. During the research process, this paper also provided the solution to the integration of TIN and Voxel in the terms of Grid, the transition from Grid to TIN, the compression of TIN-Voxel model and the space cutaway of model. Meanwhile, this paper,based on the theory of TIN-Voxel mixed space model, adopted the developing tool such as VC++ and OpenGL and the real-collected data of mine's terrane to form the visual system of the mine's terrane, which made the sapce inquiry, cutaway and material calculation on the 3-D imaging of the mine's terrane.
