Elective courses in the pedagogic specialty ensure what social development demands for teachers' qualities in a certain period. Elective courses are just the courses that allow students to learn selectively according to their own interests and conditions, on the basis of compulsory courses. Moreover, elective course can meet the needs of the development of different students and ensure the diversity of the future teachers. Nowadays, because the social development makes still greater demands on the qualities of physics teachers in middle school, it is practically important to do research on the current situation of elective course curriculum in the pedagogic specialty of physics of normal school, as well as, the problems existing in the current situation.Basing on the above, the first study of this article will try to find out the current situation of the setting of elective courses curriculum from investigating the setting of elective courses curriculum in the pedagogic specialty of physics of normal school in our country, then analyze and study the existent problems. The second study will try to find out the effect of the setting of elective courses curriculum form investigating students of normal school and physics teachers in middle school. Besides,â… also made an interview with the experts correlated with the problems.The results of the two studies:1. The cultivating aim of the pedagogic specialty in normal school is tocultivate physics teachers for schools (mainly physics teachers in middle schools); and the cultivating aim in normal schools have the same demands for the knowledge quality and capability quality of the student in normal school.2. The varieties of elective courses present a certain kind of diversity, but tend to be monotonous from an overall point of view. Generally speaking, the quantities of elective courses in specialty which can afford student to choose are relatively small(32). On the presumption of ensuring the quantities of elective courses, elective courses should further standardize the curriculum structure and optimize the curriculum constitution and content.3. The proportion of elective courses in the pedagogic specialty has increased generally, but not as much as expected.4. With regard to the setting of elective courses curriculum, it is satisfying from the feedback investigation as a whole. Among it, the domain of "the natural science" is more satisfying than the domain of "the social science" and "the practical skills".5. From the feedback investigation, elective courses had better be set up to the freshman. Moreover, elective courses should adopt the way of learning "partly teachers supervision, but independent to some extent" and the way of appraising of "curriculum thesis", "findings report", " doing experiment" and so on.6. From the feedback investigation, the curriculums that students in normal school need most include "psychology", "computer science", "teaching skills", "literature", "law", "art", "practical skills" and so on. Among them, what students need most is the curriculum of teaching skills.
