This experiment was to carry on a foundational research on Enteromorpha prolifera by 3 aspects, including ecological impacts on growth and reproduction, microscopic characteristics of the development process, and ultrastructure of mature body cell.Foliolose thallus and pipelike thallus were applied in the grads experiment, and their accretion or quantity of released spores were applied as indexes to denote which condition was more suitable for growth or reproduction. Different parts of E. prolifera material in different develop phase was applied in paraffin section treatment, and microscopic characteristics were observed by microscope. Ultrastructure of mature body cell was recorded by electron microscope. Finally, we confirmed the suitable and optimum ecological situation for growth or reproduction of E. prolifera, we also tagged the microscopic characteristics of its development process and the ultrastructure characteristics of mature body cell. The adaptive capacity of E. prolifera was strong, and its endurance for reproduction was even stronger than growth. The whole develop process of E. prolifera kept polarity, the villi-form protuberances and meshwork structures in the internal cavum of pipelike thallus conduced to the morphological development. The ultrastructure of mature body cell was largely common to other green algae species, but particularity existed.
