The tsunami is a powerful and destructive waves main caused by earthquake, which often brought to mankind great disaster, lead to much loss of life and property. Dynamic tsunami waves caused seawater dramatic ups and downs, and create a powerful wave. With it's advancing, it will inundate coastal areas overwhelming. At present, human earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis and other sudden disaster, has been able to be reduce the loss gradually through the prediction and observation, but it can not be prevented from happening. This thesis combine with virtual reality technology (VR) and Human-Computer interaction (HCI) used in the simulation of the tsunami disaster. It shows intuitive movement of the computer simulation to complex phenomenon of the tsunami on the screen. In this thesis, we use OpenGL to accomplish the two dimensional and three dimensional numerical simulation and visual simulation. We simplify the numerical model of tsunami to make correct simulation effect. By optimizing algorithm we draw the tsunami scene fast. It makes a vivid image of the tsunami campaign and the surrounding scene to raise authenticity through. We set an initial data and conditions which can be changed by interactive use of the parameters to makes different tsunami effects. This thesis contents as follows: First, in the first chapter we introduce the tsunami simulation background and significance of the research, as well as the characteristics of the tsunami. In the second chapter we introduce necessary technical tools to finish research of tsunami numerical simulation and visual simulation. And then in the third chapter and the fourth chapter focuses on the tsunami simulation of the two most critical in two parts, two-dimensional and three-dimensional tsunami numerical simulation and visual simulation, the last chapter we summarize the achievement and key technology applied in this thesis. And propose suggestions for further work. To achieve the requirements of computer simulation for tsunami, we chose combination of VC.NET, MFC, OpenGL, making use of MFC interface design and human-computer interaction features, VC.NET efficient programming, a flexible and powerful OpenGL 3D performance capability. Finally, using VC.NET we developed two-dimensional numerical simulation of the tsunami and real 3D simulation program.
