The paper has introduced traditional WebGIS technology and realization method, such as CGI, ServerAPI, Plug—In, AetiveX, Java Applet, and so on. Then a comparison has been made between WebGIS based on technologies. On the basis of comparison, it pointed out disadvantages of the traditional WebsGIS technology, which including poor possibility of re-usage, poor common usage of client and low requesting speed. o matter what WebGIS design method based on fat Client and thin Server or fat Server and thin Client, while it that Google maps based on Ajaxtechnology, success provides a new design solution and schema. The article has stressed Ajax technology and detailed the working method ofasynchronism communication layer. It also has compared the working methods of Ajax asynchronism communication mode and traditional network mode and pointed out advantages of asynchronism communication mode. On the basis of the above, Ajax technology has been used for mode establishment and analysis. With the usage of Map control which developed by client himself from VC bottom platform and with complete of Ajax technology, the Client of Web GIS has been established. ASP.NET has been used to realize communication between response of data asynchronism and server. At the same time, a simple WebGIS system has been established and anticipative effect has been realized throng test. The following conclusion has been made in the article: Ajax technology is a kind of resource technology and there are the advantages of without limitation of browser, convenient and quick exploiture and communication with asynchronism data with use of Ajax technology. For development in the future, usage of Ajax technology is animportant development direction for WebGIS.Finally, the article has made a evaluation for the current system and pointed out the part of Ajax in WebGIS and prospected the development foreground of Ajax.
