The information of cave Stalagmite is important for research paleoclimate, It accumulates data of paleoclimate which is a great number. We have researched stalagmite for more than 20 years in our country. The research of stalagmite is flourish in the karst region of China .The data is more and more in the future, we need very much a tool which collects a great number data of stalagmite, actualizes data share, analyses these data.So,we design and empolder infomation management system based on the cave stalagmite in China.ComGIS opens a new stage of GIS technical development, and it represents a trend of current GIS. On the basis of the standard component platform, GIS function modules are divided into several and software integration easy, really realizing "code reusing" and "component". MapObjects technique is based on a group of complete and packed embedding GIS component library and tools library which have no relation with platform and can be used in varied programming interface. Plentiful functions as many as ArcGIS can be got with practiced usage of component library by developer.Based on the methods of geographical information system and software engineering, the paper designs and analyses scientifcally, establishes system of the information on the cave stalagmite in China which has some stability and practicability based on VisualBasic and MapObjects.The paper consists of six parts, the main content as follows:1 .The research background of the article, the content of study, the technique means of study.2. The key technology of this system.This part discusses the key technology of this system. Based on COM(Component Object Model)to develope GIS is more and more popular. It changed the working pattern of the traditional integration GIS. Because the GIS database includes the attribute data and the spatial data, they have tightly relation. So how to realize their connection, inquire and management between them is an important problem which database management system must be faced.3. The whole design of infomation management system for the cave stalagmite in China based on MapObjects.This part gives the flow of information of the management system based on the cave stalagm ite in China based on the analysis of characteristic of cave stalagm ite. Finally the article constructs the platform, including the spatial data and theattribute database. The article gives the flat and pattern of exploiture. This part also introduces the environment of exploitation and the basic function of this system.4. The design of the system function, this part describes the main function.5. Realization of system, this part is actualized by example.6. The accomplishment and shortage and prediction.This part points out the accomplishment the article achieved, some shortage needed to be better and the research trend in the future.
