Earthquake ground motion input needs the seismic wave compatible with field design response spectrum. At present, it lacks strong motion records in lots of regions, and artificial ground motion is an important part of seismic structural design. At present, artificial ground motion simulation includes the method of seismic and engineering methods. The wavelet analysis which has been developed nearly 20 years and its application in earthquake engineering provide a new idea for ground motion simulation. Wavelet analysis makes up the shortcomings of Fourier analysis. It has a good localized nature of both time domain and frequency domain. In this paper, the author dose further research on the wavelet analysis in ground motion simulation.The main research work are as follows:1) The current status of earthquake ground motion input has been introduced, the main methods of choosing earthquake ground motion input and the application of wavelet analysis in ground motion simulation have been summarized, then the cause of cardinal B-spline wavelet to simulate earthquake ground motion has been discussed.2) using 4th cardinal B-spline wavelet and 4th quasi-difference value operator Q4 calculating Scaling Expansion Coefficient simulate earthquake ground motion, then give analytical expressions.3) applying wavelet analysis methods to simulate ground motion is feasible through examples, then analyzes the errors of simulation results.The research results indicate that wavelet analysis in ground motion simulation is effective, using 4th quasi-difference value operator Q4 calculating Scaling Expansion Coefficient enhance the simulating precision of earthquake ground motion acceleration, makes the application of wavelet analysis to establish the precise solution of structure response possible, while, provides a follow-up work base for simulating earthquake ground motion and adjustment.
