A 4πtotal absorption barium fluoride detector GTAF(Gamma-ray Total Absorption Facility)has been designed and built amply by the CIAE(the Chinese Institute of Atomic Energy)for accurate measurements of neutron capture cross sections in the keV energy range.This detector has high efficiency for gamma rays,good energy and time resolution.The energies of the captured neutrons are to be measured by the TOF (time-of-flight),for the detector has a time resolution of about 600ps.The capture cross section ratio of two isotopes can be determined accurately with all the features. The data acquisition of GTAF bases on a 8 bit Flash ADC(DC 271A,made by Acqiris Co.),and the useful physical information is obtained by the offline software. Thereby,the key of this data acquisition system is a suit of suitable software.Before the design of the data acquisition software,DC 271A's demo software was made use of in Windows XP to fix on the suitable parameters for the further experiment.The physics thought was designed in data getting software,data compressing software and data storing software,which considered the actual experiments.The software was tested well by some experiments which we designed.Then the data analysis software was designed.The physics thought was also designed in the count of energy spectrum,the count of neutron time of flight and the automatic control of high voltage software.The software was also tested by some designed experiments.The results of the tests show that the designed software was successful.The experimental data can be compressed accurately.Theαandγparticles can be discriminated rightly.The efficiency of this software meets the needs of the further experiments well.The accurate physical information can be obtained from the digital data through the designed software.This work is very important for the GTAF in the future experiments.
