In order to accurately measure the neutron capture cross-section in the keV energy range,the China Institute of Atomic Energy after the detailed design study,proposed t o build a 4πtotal absorption BaF2 detector array.This detector has the highγ-ray dete ction efficiency and better energy resolution,fast response time and low neutron sensiti vity,which combined with time-of-flight technology can be used to measured neutron c apture cross section with high precision.The 4πbarium fluoride detector consists of 42 crystals(12 pentagonal and 30 he xagonal crystals)which form a spherical shell with 10cm inner radius and 15cm thick ness.Crystal is packaged by the reflector,Al film and black tape.Through optical sil icone oil the crystal is coupled with the photomultiplier tubes,then form an independ ent unitγ-ray detector.Each detector module has almost the same solid angle to the t arget position.In this paper it will be described that the details of this experimental device in the automatic control target of switching devices and to enhance research and development(n,γ) nuclear real reaction section to background's ratio,and the establishment of the detector front-end electronics and trigger the election system.The content of this paper involved the detector system's the front-end electronics hardware and the corresponding detector which were handled by a series of relevant performance testing and discussion.Ultimately,we built a precision of less than or equal to 1mm automatic control system to switch target,and do a series of the front-end electronic experiments for the synchronization,noise,and the sum of energy,multiplicity and reasonably analyze the experimental data,the front-end electronicsrelated parameters has been preliminarily got,moreover summed up the testing methods for GTAF system,this job is a very important basic work.
