| Xiang Kou town slide slope landslide which is in the new county seat of Wulong district along Wu river's north coast. The total area of landslide is 2.9×10~5m~2, with a volume of 6.3×10~6m~3. Among it, the building area is 1.6×10~5m~2, with more than 8000 resident population. Furong road with a high density of population possess government body, schools, banks, stores, restaurants, residents, bus stations and so on, is next to front of landslide. Once the ancient landslide is unstable, the direct economic loss will over 1.5 billion, and throw danger to more than 8000 people. Therefore, it has significant meaning to analyze its form mechanism thoroughly, and evaluate its stability scientifically and reasonably.Based on field geological survey and detailed analysis , this paper has described geological environmental conditions , space form and relationship of each zone , material composition , structural characteristics , and hydrogeological conditions of landslide . According to experimental data , physical mechanics parameter of rock and soil has been analyzed , also suggested values have been presented .Secondly , macroscopic analysis has been made on deformation phenomenon , influencing factors , failure mode and development trend , analysis and forecast have been done by graphic method , using limit equilibrium method , stability of landslide on various working conditions has been calculated . It can be conclude each zone of landslide is stable under natural state , stability coefficients of which are larger than 1.15, between 1.2 and 1.33, while landslide remains basically stable under rainstorm and long-time rainfall condition , among which IV and V zone , II zone upstream part along nanxi ditch are of relatively high tendency of stability .Finally , developmental tendency and a forecast on probable harmfulness has been made based on the analysis of stability.
