The Research And Realization Of The Digital Campus GIS On The Basis Of WebGIS

GIS is a computer system with software and hardware which can collect, manage, operate, analyze and display spatial data. It is an information system based on geographical coordinate with powerful capability to deal with spatial data. So in recent years, GIS has been paid a lot of attention and come under fast development.Traditional GIS has developed towards the orientation for networks with the speedy development of Internet. WebGIS is the result of Internet and World Wide Web combined. The essence is to embed applicable system with HTTP and TCP/IP standard within the geographical information system so as to perform the function of GIS, such as the information management under the Internet environment.WebGIS is an Internet GIS with the frame of explorer and B/S. It is also a rectify and development for traditional GIS with the technology of WWW, enabling the users to access the different spatial information from different zones through convenient Internet through browser, users'unified graphic interface.With the rapid development of the information-based construction in university, it is a trend to establish campus geography information system based on Internet for managing and planning the modern university.Digital campus is a system which digitizes all the information resources, including the teaching,research,management and life services, by using the technology of computer,network,and communication. Then, it coordinates and integrates these information resources by scientific normative management in order to structure unified users'management, resource management and power restriction. At last, we will make a virtual university which faces society and transcends time and space.The article mainly conducts the research from the following aspects:1. Expound the conception and development of GIS and its application in and abroad. 2.Sum up and analyze the conception,characteristic and structure of WebGIS, then introduce some WebGIS-realizing platforms.3. Give detailed introduction on the working procedure of MapXtreme for java, combined with the need of realistic development.4. Confirm the directing thought and construction object,then confirm the development environment and tools through the demand analysis.5. We build a WebGIS system based on B/C mode by MapXtreme for java and JBuilder as the developing tool, using the map of SWUFE as the souse of electronic map. This system has realized some basic function of the map such as zoom in, zoom out, navigation, the query and control of the layers, etc.6. At last we make a conclusion of the shortage and the problems in the article, and it will be easy for us to make the system better in the future.
