GPS has revolutionized the science of positioning and Earth measurement. One is the accuracy, the other is the speed and simplicity, and the third is the cost. Additionally, it can provide 24 hours a day instantaneous global navigation and positioning service. All of these improvements are contributing to the growth of major applications. Presently GPS technique has not only been widely used for geodetic surveying but also for high precise deformation monitoring, such as dams, bridges, landslides.This article introduce background and basic component of GPS system, GPS satellite signals, GPS positioning mode, and the advantage and application in survey of GPS system, analysis and research the problem of establish control network by using GPS technique , baseline solution, control network adjustment, elevation and other aspects , and provide practical advice and recommendations by combination with examples of works, all of work have higher reference in deformation monitoringby use GPS technique. Its main contents are as follows:First, the author introduces the location of GPS horizontal control grid. Analysisand research the graphical design and design baseline. In the Measurement of the control network, the control point mark set by combining the way of the compulsory observation of the stone pier with the general standard. GPS observations use a high-precision geodetic GPS model, and other technical means and measures operations.Second, the author introduces the basic principle and process and quality controlof GPS baseline vector solution, and comprehensively and systematically introducestheory and method of adjustment of GPS monitoring network, and deeply research the Statistical and geometry meaning of adjustment benchmark corresponding the adjustment of the various methods.Then, the author introduces vertical control survey, analysis and compare ofseveral elevation fitting program, and proposed to comprehensively consider the accuracy check to points of known and to the points for the seizure, as far as possible to error to a minimum, so as to choose the best fit elevation program. Elevation of theuse of high precision GPS receiver for observation, known point of the standard uniform, fitted with GPS elevation is expected to get better results.Finally, through the introduce of GPS technology in works of examples, comprehensive expose of the GPS technology to monitor deformation in the work process, through analysis the measured data, fully explain can get satisfactory results using GPS technology to monitor deformation .
