The urbanization and motorization of Chinese cities have been accelerated in recent years, this status result in higher increase of vehicle. At the same time, the total number of bicycle decreases, but as an economical, environmental and convenient traffic tool, it will exist quite a long time in future. The mixed traffic of vehicle and bicycle will be the most obvious traffic characteristic and one of the most difficult problems in urban traffic management issues in China. Therefore, the focus of many scholars gradually transformed from the high-speed vehicle traffic flow to the low-speed bicycle traffic flow, and they begin to study bicycle traffic. Based on this, this paper apply multi-value Cellular Automata model to the bicycle traffic flow study, trying to find the inherent mechanism of bicycle traffic in order to provide some theoretical basis for bicycle traffic planning, control and managements. The multi-value Cellular Automata EBCA2 model was improved and simulated by analyzing the basic characteristics of bicycle traffic. Simulation results show that the improved model can describe the basic bicycle traffic flow characteristics, its density-flow curve and the maximum capacity are in line with theoretical analysis. Bicycle space-time plots reflect the inherent mechanism of bicycle traffic and give sound reasons why traffic jams produce and evacuate; In addition, the changing relationship between stochastic randomization possibility as well as the lane number and bicycle traffic capacity is analyzed using the simulation model to get the best range of the width of the lane for bicycle. In order to grasp characteristics of bicycle traffic flow further, bicycle is classified as fast bicycle and slow bicycle by maximum speed and mixed bicycle model is established based on multi-value Cellular Automaton model combined in this paper. The flow-density function is obtained through simulation curve fitting, and simulation results are identical with theoretical analysis; moreover, the changing relationship between flow and density is simulated and analyzed through which we can get the reasons why traffic jams produce, deteriorate, evacuate and disappear.
