Traffic as the lifeline of the economy, is a significant symbol to evaluate a country's level of modernization and directly influences the development of a country's modernization. With the rapid development of modern economy and the gradual increase of private vehicles, city roads have become more complex and lead to many traffic problems, such as traffic congestion, road congestion and traffic accidents, etc. Meanwhile, all these problems lead to serious economic losses. Because of transport severe congestion, vehicles have to stay at a lower speed, which increases fuel consumption, fuel costs, energy waste and air pollution. Thus it is quite urgent to update the present theory to tackle these issues.Since the last century, a number of scholars have been conducting research on road traffic and creating a variety of traffic flow models including kinematic models, FI model, car-following models, cellular automaton model, est. These models greatly contributed to the development of traffic flow theory.This paper applies the most widely used cellular automata model, because of its simplify to understand and making computer programming. Then, some simulation results of traffic flow including traffic characteristics graphs data are been showed to analysis the road traffic characteristics.Three main components of the paper are as followings:1. A model for two lane of a single intersection with periodic boundary conditions is established. We set turn-left green light that based on the traffic light which only have red and green light. The model investigates the effect to traffic flow under different parameters such as the maximum number of turning vehicles, the time of traffic light distribution and the proportion of mixture coefficient. Finally, the model was compared with the non-turn-left green light model. The results show that setting turn-left green light can ease traffic jams.2. On the basis of the last chapter, we have researched the model on open boundary conditions in order to reflect the reality of the phenomenon of mixed traffic. Considering the effect to the traffic flow and velocity of main roads under turn-left green light duration, the maximum number of turning vehicles and the influence of boundary conditions. The result show that on the open boundary conditions it presents the new characteristic and the phenomenon.3.A model for two-way cross-intersection model, we have compared with the traffic flow characteristic of the model have traffic light and non by changing the proportion of vehicle turn-left, vehicle turn-right and vehicle straight. The results show that vehicles can be ordered driving and evacuate by rules on the situation of having traffic light. It not only can avoid traffic conflicts, but also can aim to improve road efficiency.Finally, summary the work of this article and look to the future to continue to work on traffic flow.
