Spatial data is an indispensable component of GIS,the quality of its data influences and restricts the availability of Geographic Information Systems to a great extent.Spatial data sources are diverse,and the AutoCAD software have a huge advantage in the data collection and editing.So It has often been used as a platform for data acquisition.At present,CAD data occupies a large proportion of large-scale data in various cities of china.In order to adapt to the requirements of building digital cities based on geographic information database,it is necessary to do a lot of work for CAD data converting into GIS data by the data migration and data conversion.How to provide GIS users with spatial data that meet the quality requirements has become one of the key tasks in GIS construction.This paper depends on 1:2 000 GIS database construction projects of YanTai, drawing from the two typical mapping software between AutoCAD and ArcGIS,deeply analysis the characteristics of the data supported by the two software platforms, introduced several technical methods of CAD data to GIS data,proposed a method that CAD data converting to Coverage by AML programming,and discussed the content of quality control.In this paper,the main content including:(1) The characteristics and the development process of AML is analyzed,the comparative advantages of AML are introduced,and the platform of ArcInfo is described Systematically.(2) The different organization of Coverage and CAD data structure are analyzed, and the disadvantage in the practical application is pointed out through the comparison and study of the two types of data,it provides a theoretical preparation for the conversion of CAD to GIS.(3)Have set out the significance of the geographic coding elements,principles and methods,explained the impact of Geo-coding to data transformation,emphatically analysis the principles and methods of large-scale data in YanTai.(4)Have discussed several methods about spatial data conversion,and designed the data conversion process depend on AML language.(5) Have described the main content of quality control and methods.Through AML programming,the automatic inspection of graphical element have come true,and the efficiency of the spatial data inspection have been improved.
