Hexigten, located in the east of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and in the northwest of Chifeng City, is rich in natural resources. The famous Hexigten Global Geopark is seated here. This paper studys on geodiversity of Hexigten in Inner Mongolia. The geodiversity in Hexigten is reflected in geological diversity, landscape diversity, soil diversity and water diversity. The geological diversity includes the diversity of stratums, rocks and structures. The landscape diversity includes volcanic landforms, glacial landforms, aeolian landforms, fluvial landforms and granite landscapes, the soil diversity includes various orders of soil and the water diversity includes lakes, rivers, waterfalls, hot springs and wetlands.Compared with other areas in Inner Mongolia, Hexigten has more types of geodiversity elements, and has more entire types of granite landscape which is typical, systematic and integrated. There are various and well-preserved glaciers and numerous volcanic cones.Through the use of spatial analysis in ArcGIS, I selecte 5 topographic factors (elevation, slope, curvature, surface roughness, surface topography amplitude) and 2 geological factors (fault density and the time of intrusiverock) for the qualitative assessment of geodiversity. And the results show that geodiversity in the eastern part of the study area is greater. The research of geodiversity both at home and abroad is at the initial stage of exploration, a lot of theories and methods are not perfect, but the research on geodiversity will provide a new direction for geological research, planning and construction of geopark, and conservation of natural resources. To classify and assess the geodiversity of Hexigten in this article is a new attempt, not only providing a new idea to study in the region, but also playing important guidance on geoheritage conservation, while serving as certain reference significance and reference value for other regions to study geodiversity.
