The Establishment Of Object-Oriented Map Symbol Library

Map symbols which represent the spatial information is the language of map units,also is the content of visual expression of the basic tools of geographic information. Expression through the symbolic content of the map is the main means of the map .Sumbols plays an important role in drawing the map.The most commonly used GIS software, whether it is represented abroad by ArcGIS or domestic MapGIS platform software system, layers are rendered on the same space with the different symbols, the symbols saved in the project file. If the project file is missing, you need to re-draw symbols, which is great inconvenient.The present study include:1. Symbols and objects bounded This paper presents the idea of symbol and object sub-type of binding. We make symbols as an attribute of spatial information. When the property of spatial information is converted, symbols are also converted.Which is opened in the GIS platform has been symbolic of spatial information, using national standard geological symbol library and aircraft remote geological symbol library, make spatial information in the field rendering, and ultimately achieve the different platform in same spatial expression, symbol rendering effect.2. Construction of the national standard geological symbol library. According to user demand, we set up universal symbol library and differ the symbol library into the geological symbol library and symbol library .3. For the management of symbol libraries, we provid with Microsoft Access object-oriented database management, and establish the user interfaces.To make user creat,modify, search and other operations easy.4. Implementation of plug-in function In the ArcGIS platform for plug-ins to load and unload, according to the secondary development ArcGIS interface, implement the symbol management interface and functions.In summary, this thesis to achieve a common geological symbol library building. In common GIS platform, we implement flexible and can be inserted removable plug symbol library system, and achieve the object with the symbol of the binding, to achieve a similar rendering.
