Research Of Storing Effect Of Fecal Steroids By Different Methods For Przewalskii' Horse

The article aim to illustrate preservation efficiency of ethanol and torrefaction storage methods on fecal steroids of Przewalskii'Horse at room temperature(20±1℃). In terms of the non-invasive sampling methods, in Oct,2009, we selected five males and five females in breeding centre of Przewalskii'Horse in Xingjiang province, collecting their fresh feces. Then, the feces were completely mixed by gender, which produce two shares of feces. After that, each share was separated into two equal parts, which were disposed by ethanol dipping and torrefaction methods, besides, we set eight time grads in each gender and each storage method, which are 0,3,6,9,12,15,20,25,days. Fecal Testosterone content of male horses and Progesterone,Estradiol content of female horses were measured by ELISA method. And then we record the experiment data, analysed it with SPASS 13.0 software, confirmed the significative storage time of different hormones of different methods in male and female's feces. The study result illuminated:(1) With the ethanol preservation method, the fecal testosterone can be stably kept for 6 days, Estradiol for 15 days, Progesterone for 9 days.(2) With the oven drying method, the fecal testosterone can be stably kept for 3 days, Estradiol for 9 days, Progesterone for 6 days.Judged by the preservation effect of the two methods and climate character of przewalskii'Horse habitate, we think the storing method of ethonal is the better choice, adapt to the reproduction inspectation of wild przewalskii'Horse in natural reserve in Xingjiang province.
