Study On Preparation And Properties Of Multifunctional Fabrics With Cotton Styles

Multi-component fabrics were developed and became more prominent in recent years, due to their ability to enhance the wearability. So far, no fiber can be separately used to meet the demands of multi-functional fabrics, it is an urgent task to develop new multi-functional fabrics which is made of different fibers. At present, cotton-like fibers were developed to improve the comfortability of fabrics as the real cotton fabrics.In this thesis, weave design and weaving process of new multi-functional fabrics were discussed. Effects of elements were also discussed on air permeability, fabric drape, crease recovery, hygroscopicity, moisture conductive, moisture gain, radiation resistance and UV resistance. Moreover, moisture transmitting models were built and the performance of samples were tested and analysed. The main conclusions of this thesis are as follows:(1)The samples were interwoven by PLA/cotton blended yarn, tencel, Cooldry, and core-spun yarn with stainless steel fibers. Firstly, with increase in the content of PLA/cotton blended yarn, moisture conductive, air permeability, and fabric drape increase while moisture permeability decrease; hygroscopicity and moisture gain that in the period of 30min, 40min and 50min increase before decrease while crease recovery decrease before increase. Secondly, with increase in the weave coefficient, moisture permeability, air permeability, fabric drape and lustre increase; the wet conductivity of stain weave gets worse than plain weave, twill weave and open weave; hygroscopicity, moisture conductive and crease recovery increase before decrease. Finally, with increase in fabric tightness, lustre increase while air permeability, fabric drape, moisture conductive and moisture permeability decrease, hygroscopicity, moisture gain that in the period of 30min, 40min and 50min and crease recovery increase before decrease. The samples get its capability of unidirectional moisture conductive when moisture conductive in the inner-layer and outer-layer of the fabric are different.(2)The samples seem more smoothness and have cotton-like style. The lustrousness is 710, closer to 810 of cotton fabrics. The moisture regain is 710% which is better than the cotton fabric of 57%. The ranges of air permeability, moisture permeability, slope of moisture gain curve are 165900L/m2·s, 40005400g·m-2·d-1 and 0.350.65, better than the cotton fabric of 200L/m2·s, 35004500g·m-2·d-1 and 0.3. The wicking height in warp and weft are 1016cm and 612cm higher than cotton fabric of 811cm and 79cm. The area of moisture conductive is 5.56cm2, close to cotton fabric of 56cm2. Drape coefficient is 4060%, while cotton fabric is about 55%. The crease recovery angle of gradual flexibility is 160250°better than cotton fabric of 160°. The effectiveness of shielding is between 10dB and 20dB which can meet the requirements of radiation resistance when the content of core-spun yarn with stainless steel fibers reaches about 20%. (3) When fabrics have the same fabric coefficient and tightness, the properties of fabric without stainless steel fibers is better than fabrics with stainless steel fibers. Moreover, the properties are better when the yarn blending ratio is 60/40 and the fabric content is 40% or 60%. When fabrics have the same materials and fabric tightness, the properties of satin weave is the best, followed by open work and twill weave, plain weave is the worst. When fabrics have the same materials and fabric coefficient, fabric which has low tightness is considered to be better. In a word, fabrics which have stainless steel fibers with the content of 20%, PLA/cotton blended yarn with the content of 40%60%, fabric tightness with the content of 70.75% 77.5% have better wearability and radiation resistance than others.In short, fabrics have superior properties which were interwoven by PLA/cotton blended yarn, tencel, Cooldry, and core-spun yarn with stainless steel fibers. As a result, the research and conclusion can make contribution to economy and society.
