With the rapid growth of industrial and agricultural production and the quick developmentof economy, both of the frequency and the danger degree of pollution accidents, especiallysevere and emergent ones in environmental chemistry have a tendency of being upgraded.Therefore, in order to reduce the danger of emergent environmental pollution, solutions are beingstudied to find a technology that can collect the data of pollution and make emergency responseplan at earliest time.By now, the data of pollution in emergency monitoring system are mainly obtained fromthe vehicles for environment emergency monitoring. However, few current vehicles can satisfythe functional needs for environment emergency monitoring because monitor devices in thesevehicles are in such a large amount that they can't be applied in time when pollution accidentshappened. Now, the application of Zigbee technology in pollution monitoring is a hot spot. It is anew research area both at home and abroad. Under this background, a pollution monitoringsystem based on Zigbee technology is suggested by this paper to provide a rapid deployment anda feasible plan in pollution emergency monitoring. This paper is also a part of the key technologyproject of Zhejiang Province-- The Development and Application of Supporting Platform forPollution Emergency Monitoring. The outline of this paper is as follows:(1) This article analyzes the background of this research,studies the node architecture of thewireless sensor network,operating system,operating environment and the application of wirelesssensor network.(2) This article studies the technology of Zigbee in aspect of the characteristic and thearchitecture, studies the protocol of router, comparing AODVjr and traditional AODV routerprotocol using NS2 software about their performance. Article also studies the protocol of z-stack2006 deeply in aspect of operating system of protocol and the key technology and so on. (3) This article designs a system of pollution monitoring in aspect of requires of design,scheme selection,including chip selection,topology of network,interface.Following, a structureof pollution monitoring system is introduced.(4)In hardware, This article designes coordinator and enddevice nodes of pollutionmonitoring system. In software, This article designs program of enddevice node,program ofcoordinator node and the program of computer control system. Finally, a test of experiment isgiven. The result indicates that nodes designed achieve the aim of research, A network is formedof its own accord at range of distance which the design required.
