Because of its many particular properties in optics scoustics electricity. magnetism. heat. catalysis. mechanics. chemical activity etc, and its great potential high technology applied prospects, nanoparticle has become one of the quite popular problem in materials research field,it gains much attention of the scientists from different countries in the world. Rare earth elements have unique properties and extensive applications owing to their special electronic configuration. In order to fi.irther understand the movement regularity of 4f electrons and to make rare earth materials have new and better use value, research on synthesis. electronic construction. functional properties and applications of rare earth compounds nanoparticle is an urgent as well as important studied subject. CeO2 is a cheap and of use wide material, it is used in optical materials. polishing agents. ultraviolet absorption materials. the cleaning catalyst of car waste gases. chemical decolorant of glass. radiation-resisting glass. permanent magnet. electronic ceramics etc. After it becomes nanoparticle, it will show some new properties and applications. For example, CeO2 nanocrystal is a better promoter of Cytochrome C and the stabilizer of Zr02 ceramics. Because of its high index of refraction and well stability, it is used to produce reduce reflection film. In conclusion, it is important to synthesize CeO2 nanoparticles because of its extensive use. In this thesis, the hydrosol of CeO2 nanoparticles. the transparent organosol of CeO2 nanoparticles and CeO2 nanoparticles coated with DBS have been first prepared by colloidal chemical method, The CeO2 nanoparticles with various particle sizes were obtained by different calcination temperature. For the first time, we obtained the optimum condition of preparing colloid. The prepared samples were deeply studied by XRD. ED. TEM. XPS. Some new and meaningful results were obtained.
