Modular Fixture CAD

This paper applies GT (Group Technology) and feature modeling method to build up Modular Fixture CAD system based on Solid Works. The system includes Modular Fixture element library, Modular Fixture Managing system. With them, Modular Fixtures can be assembled, questioned and managed more quickly . It would solve the problem that the NC programs of numerical control machine tools can't be used directly because the changes of the structure and orientation of Modular Fixtures owing to the difference of the assembling men or time . It would speed the integration of CAD/CAD and popularize the use of Modular Fixtures.Firstly, the Modular Fixture element library is established. Analyzing the structure of the modular fixture element, giving the structuring features, building up the relations among the features and gemological features, the modular fixture element model is established gradually. And the elements of the different specification of the same model are produced automatically based on the table of features.Secondly, the managing system of modular fixtures database is designed based on GT and Access database. You can check , manage and maintain easily .Lastly, the author studies the second development of SolidWorks based on VC++6.0.The results of example show that the system thought is correct, the interface friendly, the operation reliable and quick ,and the system can be used practically.
